How to measure rental item utilization and profitability

Rental count alone does not show efficiency. An item may be rented often but contribute little after repairs, discounts and downtime.

What to measure

• Share of available time rented
• Revenue and charges per item
• Maintenance cost
• Downtime days
• Payback period and residual value

Compare metrics within the same category and season. This shows what to purchase, move between locations, repair or retire.
