Cash shifts in a rental business: keeping the till honest with hired staff
Published
When a hired cashier runs the counter, the owner learns about a shortage too late, if at all. A cash shift turns "something seems missing" into exact figures for each employee.
How a shift works
- The cashier opens the shift and counts the cash in the drawer
- Every payment they take is added to the shift automatically
- Cash put in or taken out is recorded with a comment
- At closing the system says how much cash should be there
- Any difference is saved with the cashier's explanation
Matching card payments
The CRM card total is compared with the terminal's settlement report. On top of that, each terminal operation is matched with CRM payments by RRN, which reveals a terminal payment never entered in the system and a card payment entered without the terminal.
A payment should count by the time it was entered, not by a date someone can backdate. Then editing a date cannot move money out of the shift.
